Research shows that the local team leader makes the greatest impact on employee engagement and productivity.
Standout is a leadership effectiveness platform based on decades of performance research with the world’s best leaders. Beginning with an assessment it pinpoints your strengths as a leader and then gives you all the tools you need to lead your teams with greater intelligence, precision and impact.
Using your results from the assessment, My Channel delivers to you a personalized stream of ongoing best practices, tips and techniques from leaders who share your same strengths.
Members on your Team Console have access to their own customized Channel and individual Profiles that reveal precisely how and where each can rely on the others. See each team member's strengths at a glance and use the Check-In tool to track engagement in real time.
StandOut pinpoints the strengths of each team member and provides you as team leader with a Cheat Sheet telling you how to focus, recognize and challenge each of them.
StandOut starts with a powerful assessment, that identifies your top two strength Roles and gives insight into how to leverage those strengths.
Once your team members take the Assessment, you’ll see them appear on your team console and discover which of the 9 strengths Roles they lead with.
Take action on the tips you receivepost them, comment on them, share them with others on your Claim Board, and maximize your impact as a leader.

By using this web site, you acknowledge that you have read this disclaimer and that you accept and will be bound by the terms hereof. The Marcus Buckingham Company (TMBC) may, in its sole discretion, modify or revise these terms and conditions at any time by updating this web page. You are bound by any such modification or revision and should therefore visit this page periodically to review the Agreement.
The Marcus Buckingham Company (TMBC) is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who access its web sites. Please read the following policy for further details as to the types of information collected through TMBC web sites, including personal information and how it is treated.
TMBC web sites gather information in two ways: (1) when you access our site (our technology logs site visitors), and (2) When you directly share your information with us (e.g., when you register for an assessment, for access to our online platform or for our newsletter).
TMBC collects a variety of information pertaining to the use of its web sites. Specifically, we monitor site traffic volume and patterns, such as the number of visitors to a given site or page on a daily basis. This information is gathered through various means, such as an IP address, which is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are accessing the web. When you visit a page from TMBC, our servers log your computer's IP address.
Only designated administrators can access this information. It is used only for administrative and planning purposes to further understand the needs our users, to help us make appropriate changes to improve the content of the site, and to customize the content and/or layout of the site for individuals or groups of users.
Other types of information are stored in "cookies." Cookies are small files of electronic information that a web site can transfer to a visitor's hard drive to help that visitor while on the site. Some TMBC sites use cookies simply to store a user key code so that the user does not have to re-enter user information when revisiting the site. Although most web browsers accept cookies automatically by default, the decision of whether to accept them is yours.
TMBC also collects information that is voluntarily provided by site visitors, such as a name or e-mail address. It is entirely your decision to provide the requested information. Such personal data is collected when a site visitor registers with a site or requests web services/access to our online assessments. This information is kept totally confidential, and will be used only to contact you. You may choose to have this information removed at any time. We will never barter, trade, or sell access to our database of registered users.
In addition, TMBC stores data entered into the StandOut platform to ensure cloud-based accessibility. Certain sections of the platform are viewable by all users (e.g. your Profile). Other areas of the platform are private (e.g. your Notes). We protect the privacy of each user as it relates to content entered into private areas of the platform and will not make it available to your employer or any other sources. You are responsible for the contents of your notes and are only able to view notes taken on your own team console.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL LOSE ALL ACCESS TO YOUR NOTES (1) if you delete a person from your team (you would lose only the notes associated with that person), or (2) if you fail to renew your StandOut subscription.
If you are receiving e-mail communications from TMBC but wish to discontinue this service, you may request to do so at any time by e-mailing us at Privacy@tmbc.com.
You also have the option to request a revision of your user information at any time by e-mailing the requested changes to Privacy@tmbc.com.
TMBC employees understand the need for user privacy, and are bound by strong confidentiality regulations. We also maintain strict security procedures to protect your information. Access to user data is strictly limited and a log of those who have accessed the data is monitored to prevent security breaches.
Some information is stored for TMBC by authorized third-party companies. These companies are carefully screened by TMBC and held to the highest privacy standards. We limit such third parties in their access to and use of your personal information, and like TMBC, they will never sell access to your information.
TMBC web sites may contain links to sites owned and/or operated by other organizations, and the privacy policies of those sites may differ from that of TMBC. These sites may collect data and make use of it in ways that TMBC does not. We encourage you to review the privacy policies posted on all third-party sites.
This Privacy Policy is TMBC's commitment to its web site users. TMBC reserves the right to change our policy at any time. Therefore, we suggest that users who may have specific concerns about the information being gathered and use of that information regularly view the Privacy Policy on this site.

You can add extra subscriptions when you purchase the Team Console, and you can also purchase additional keys when inviting new members to your Team Console.
If you’d like to buy 250 or more subscriptions, contact our sales team and they can help you out.
A key from the StandOut book provides you with access to the assessment and limited access to the platform. If you’d like to have the full platform experience, you will need to upgrade to a Silver, Gold or Platinum package.
If you are a Team Leader and would like to build a Team Console, you can purchase a Team Leader Package after you’ve taken the assessment. Click on the “My Teams” tab and pick the package option that fits the size of your team.
The questions and response choices of the assessment are available in the following languages:
The assessment and answers are available in the above languages. The channel feed and other portions of StandOut are available only in English at this time.
If you are interrupted while taking the assessment, you do not need to start over. If your account is logged out, sign in again, and the assessment will automatically resume where you left off. If you are still logged in, click the Continue button to return to the questions/answers you were considering before you were interrupted.
Keep in mind that the best results are obtained when the entire survey is taken in one sitting, which requires approximately 20 minutes for the average user. For this reason, we recommend you set aside enough time to take the entire survey without interruption.
When you measure people's themes of talent, it soon becomes apparent that, no matter how thinly you slice each aspect of each theme, these themes cluster into certain frequently occurring patterns.
To create the assessment, we first identified the most common and powerful theme clusters. We have called these "strength Roles." We then designed a series of question/response combinations to measure each Role.
This alpha version of the assessment was made available online in October of 2009. By January 2010, over 257,000 people had completed the alpha version of the assessment. After analyzing the responses, we removed unreliable question/response combinations, changed some responses, and added a select number of new question/response combinations that we will use in future research. This research will be ongoing as we collect more data on each question/response combination.

The data on the benefits of leveraging strengths is decisive. Workplace surveys involving hundreds of thousands of employees worldwide over several decades allowed the Gallup Organization to identify the 12 key questions that most strongly correlated to high performance, as measured by numerous standard business metrics, including productivity, customer satisfaction scores and employee retention. The one question that showed the highest correlation to the highest number of positive business outcomes was: At work, do you have the chance to do what you do best every day?
